Uganda's Fintech Startups Attract Record Investment in 2026
Local fintech firms raised more than $85 million this year, driven by growing mobile money and digital lending adoption.
Ugandan fintech startups have attracted a record $85 million in investment so far this year, according to a new report from a regional venture capital association, more than double the amount raised in 2024.
Digital lending and mobile money interoperability platforms accounted for the largest share of funding, reflecting continued growth in Uganda's mobile-first financial services sector.
"Investors are increasingly viewing Uganda as a serious fintech hub within East Africa, not just an extension of the Kenyan market," said one venture capital analyst.
Industry leaders say regulatory clarity from the central bank has played a significant role in building investor confidence.
