Mental Health Awareness Week Kicks Off Across Kampala
The week-long campaign includes free counselling sessions and public talks aimed at reducing stigma around mental illness.
Mental Health Awareness Week began in Kampala on Monday, with free counselling sessions, public talks and school outreach programmes planned across the city.
Organisers say the campaign aims to reduce stigma and encourage more people to seek help for anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions.
"Mental health has long been overlooked in our healthcare conversations. This week is about changing that," said a clinical psychologist involved in the programme.
Several private and public health facilities are offering discounted or free initial consultations throughout the week.
