Ugandan Gospel Choir Wins Award at East Africa Music Awards

A Kampala-based gospel choir has won the Best Gospel Group award at this year's East Africa Music Awards, held in Nairobi, marking its second continental recognition in three years.

The choir's director said the award reflected years of disciplined rehearsal and a commitment to original Ugandan gospel compositions rather than covers.

"We wanted to show that Ugandan gospel music can stand on its own on a regional stage," the director said after the ceremony.

The group is now preparing to release its third studio album early next year.
