Kampala Fashion Week returned this week with a strong focus on sustainability, showcasing designers who work primarily with recycled fabrics and locally sourced materials.
Organisers said the shift reflects a broader movement within East Africa's fashion industry toward more environmentally conscious production.
"Consumers, especially younger ones, are asking harder questions about where their clothes come from. Designers are responding," said the event's creative director.
The week-long event closes with a showcase featuring collections from over 30 designers from Uganda and neighbouring countries.
