Nezumi’s Voiture VM2 introduces a new column-wheel chronograph movement to its Voiture series

Nezumi started its watchmaking ventures in 2015 with the Voiture model, a vintage- and racing-inspired chronograph powered by a Seiko mecha-quartz movement. In 2021, Nezumi updated the Voiture with a manually wound Sellita SW510, adding a mechanical option. Now, in 2026, Nezumi has updated its cornerstone chronograph once again, adding an automatic column-wheel chronograph while making the watch more wearable than its previous mechanical iterations, with its Nezumi Voiture VM2.

Starting with the stainless steel case, the 40mm case diameter and 47mm lug-to-lug stay the same as both the previous mecha-quartz and mechanical models. The case thickness, however, is trimmed down to a svelte 12.9mm, including the double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside. Despite its relatively thin case, the VM2 maintains a water resistance rating of 50 metres. The fixed aluminium bezel has a printed tachymetre scale and measures 39mm in diameter. The case has a brushed finish, with prominent lyre lugs that give the case a dynamic shape. Flipping the watch over reveals a solid steel case back, with a bold engraving featuring a stylised Nezumi logo and information about the watch. The push-pull crown features the Nezumi logo and is flanked by brushed chronograph pushers on either side.

The new Voiture VM2 is launched with two dial variations. The first keeps the orange accents seen on the original Voiture models, with a predominantly black-and-grey dial, orange accents around the dial periphery, the 30-minute chronograph register, and orange chronograph hands. The second model opts for a monochrome colour scheme, inverting the black and grey sections, with white sub-dials and black sub-dial hands. Both dials feature applied indices and hands made of brushed steel and filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova. The countersunk sub-registers are in the vintage-enthusiasts’ favourite 3-6-9 configuration. The chronograph hours are at 9 o’clock, the chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock, and the running seconds at 6 o’clock.
Nezumi has three strap options available for the new Voiture VM2. First, there is a vintage racing-style leather strap available in black or brown. Nezumi also offers canvas straps in moss green or black, and the brand’s Colin 2.2 bracelet. The straps come with a stainless-steel pin-buckle. The Colin 2.2 bracelet is a five-link stainless steel bracelet with a brushed finish, micro-adjustable clasp, and quick-release spring bars.

The Nezumi Voiture VM2 models use the Peacock SL-4801 movement. The SL-4801 is an automatic 12-hour chronograph movement with a column-wheel and vertical clutch. The movement features uni-directional winding, a 55-hour power reserve, 44 jewels, and operates at 28,800 bph.
The crisp edges and dramatic lugs of Nezumi’s cases are enough to make me weak in the knees (hence why I’ll always be a sucker for lyre-lug Speedys), but the implementation of the Peacock SL-4801 is the more exciting news. With the ability to offer an automatic column-wheel chronograph in an affordable and wearable package, I do hope to see more widespread usage of this calibre in the future. With a dramatic reduction in thickness, besting many time-only automatic calibres from big Swiss brands, the form factor alone of this calibre seems to have great potential. With more widespread adoption slowly taking place outside of Chinese brands, I will take that as a sign that the movement is proving to be reliable and usable.

This updated variation of the Nezumi Voiture makes for a great, affordable and very wearable mechanical chronograph, especially if you’re new to complications. It is impressive what Nezumi is able to offer for the price, especially considering the brand has managed to keep its design house in Stockholm, and assembly and quality control in Germany.
